A survey for larvae of the caddis Limnephilus tauricus on Cors Erddreiniog - Winter 2022
The ‘Natur am Byth!’ partnership unites nine environmental charities and Natural Resources Wales to deliver the country’s largest natural heritage and outreach programme to save species from extinction and reconnect people to nature. Following the rediscovery of adults of the Vulnerable caddis Limnephilus tauricus on Cors Erddreiniog in July and August 2022, its only Welsh locality, an extensive search of 26 locations for larvae was undertaken. The opportunity was taken to look for the Critically Endangered L. pati O’Connor at the same time as the two species are known to occur together although it has never been recorded from Wales (Wallace, 2016).
