Special Area of Conservation (SAC) Monitoring: Monitoring Raised Mire Vegetation at Cors Fochno candidate Special Area of Conservation (cSAC) (2004)
This dataset has been obtained through monitoring of Raised Mire Vegetation at Cors Fochno candidate Special Area of Conservation (cSAC). The primary objectives were to map the extent and then assess the condition of three Annex 1 habitats (of the EC Habitats and Species Directive), namely 'Active Raised Bog' and the 'Depressions on peat substrates of the Rhynchosporion' (Rhynchosporion habitat) that forms part of it, together with 'Degraded Raised Bog'. Assumed to be high as undertaken by experienced Surveyors.

Habitat mapping was undertaken between 10th and 16th September 2003. Vegetation monitoring comprised the establishment and recording of seven 100 m x 100 m plots situated upon the 'Active Raised Bog' surface; four from within the 'core' area of 'Rhynchosporion vegetation'; three outside of it. A further four plots, 50 m x 50 m in size, were established and recorded from within stands of 'Degraded Raised Bog'.
