Greater Horseshoe Bat (Rhinolophus ferrumequinum) survey of the Castlemartin bat cave following the grounding of the Sea Empress
The Castlemartin coast holds the most important hibernacula for Greater Horseshoe Bats, Rhinolophus ferrumequinum in Wales. Following the oil spill from the Sea Empress, oil was dispersed along and deposited on the Castlemartin coast and concerns were raised about the contamination of Castlemartin bat cave. This dataset contains the results of surveys carried out to check for the presence of oil and bats at the cave. The purpose of this data capture was to determine whether oil pollution from the Sea Empress was adversely affecting the bats.
