Natural Resources Wales (NRW) holds a large numbers of photographic images created for the following numerous purposes, including biological recording; habitat recording; land-use recording; recording events and activities; communications and public engagement.

Images are captured by NRW staff or contractors on behalf of NRW, and uploaded to the NRW Image Store which was developed by Asset Bank. Each image contains it own metadata related to image properties and NRW keywords. Images from legacy Forestry Commission Wales, Countryside Council for Wales and Environment Agency Wales are also collated in the NRW Image Store.

Access to this data may be restricted under relevant legislation. NRW may NOT publish or disseminate the data. Requests should be referred to NRW's Access to Information Officer. There is the functionality to download the images and then share them externally but users need to be particularly aware of the reuse, copyright fields in the images and any restrictions re: identifieable persons. It would be up to the individual image/image collation custodians as to whether there is a need to share externally - this may be dependant on the sharing of associated datasets (e.g. monitoring data aligned to specific monitoring images)
