This dataset comprises of two summer surveillance collations for Welsh Lesser Horseshoe bats (Rhinolophus hipposideros). The two collations date from 1987 to 2006 and from 2006 to 2011. They contain the results of annual summer surveillance of selected Lesser Horseshoe bat maternity and nursery roost sites. It includes a range of associated environmental data, such as temperature and weather conditions. The purpose of this data capture was to provide standardised information for planning and development control purposes. Data is used to support notification and subsequent monitoring of Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs) and Special Areas of Conservation (SACs). This dataset is now classed as static as no data is currently added to these records. Instead these records are now sent directly to the Bat Conservation Trust as part of their National Bat Monitoring Programme. This dataset covers the whole of Wales and NRW hold and manage the top copy of the data which make up 3538 records (1987-2006 has 1910 records and 2006-2011 has 1628 records).
