Includes the location of roosts, roost type, species records and public enquiries and/or details of visits to roosts by CCW staff or other bat experts. The purpose of this data capture was to record species distribution and details of bat roosts. This data has been used to provide information when dealing with development proposals, to support the monitoring and notification of Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), and to aid with the monitoring and reporting on the status and trends of protected bat species. Original data was created by Nature Conservancy Council as part of a UK-wide dataset and Welsh records were transferred to CCW in 1991. This dataset has not been validated and there may be some errors in grid references and place names. [C] Some data is owned by volunteer recorders, who may wish to impose additional access restrictions.
