It was developed as an upstream intervention to be utilised during the deployment application process for the spreading of waste materials to land as a measurable upstream intervention. Landspreading is an area of work for NRW that is broader than waste recovery. The same restrictions regarding slope that apply to the spreading of waste materials also apply to none-waste materials. The GIS layer was made available to all NRW officers for compliance work. The ArcMap slope tool was utilised to create an all Wales layer of slope angles. The underlying source data used to create this layer was the Environment Agency Integrated Height Model (EA IHM).
