Survey of the caddisfly Limnephilus tauricus at Cors Erddreiniog National Nature Reserve (NNR) in 2022
A survey of Cors Erddreiniog National Nature Reserve (NNR) was carried out in order to update knowledge of the status and distribution of the very rare caddisfly Limnephilus tauricus – a species known only from this reserve in Wales. The survey also aimed to locate the even rarer caddisfly Limnephilus pati, which hasn’t been previously recorded at the reserve (or in Wales) but is present in similar habitats within the same flight period.

The survey was conducted by placing light traps at selected locations across the reserve on nine separate occasions between 16th June and 12th August 2022. Since these light traps would also attract moths, a survey of macro- and micro-moths was also conducted at the reserve.
