Water Resource Availability
The Water Resource Availability data is based on a nationally consistent method and provides a national picture of Water Resource Availability for each Water Framework Directive Cycle 2 water body. Local Water Resource Availability for abstraction licensing is provided in our Abstraction Licensing Strategies (ALS) published on our website. ALS outline the implications for abstraction licensing of the different water resource availability colours. This national picture of Water Resource Availability may be different to local assessments in ALS particularly for regulated rivers and rivers designated as Special Areas of Conservation (SACs) where local requirements may mean that results have been overridden.
