They are based upon the flow direction models which were created by the Environment Agency Detailed River Network which subsequently passed to NRW. For each cell in a raster the All Wales Hydrological Analysis Flow Direction Raster assigns a value indicating which adjacent cell surface water would be expected to flow to.
