High tide roosts for waterbird features in Welsh Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs) and Special Protection Areas (SPAs) 2018/19
This dataset provides detailed information on the location, extent and composition of high tide waterbird roosts within Welsh protected sites (Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs) and Special Protection Areas (SPAs)). Metadata included in the GIS shapefiles include details of: species using the roost, months in which the roost is used, tides on which the roost is used, habitat and human activities that occur in the associated Wetland Bird Survey (WeBS) count sector.

Data have been collected through a pilot online mapping tool developed within the WeBS online data entry portal of the BTO/RSPB/JNCC Wetland Bird Survey (WeBS). It is intended that this development will enable the accumulation of comprehensive data on waterbird roosts within Welsh protected sites (SPAs/SSSIs) over time. Information warning; This data was commissioned by NRW for the pilot project and is not updated. NRW recommends that for an up to date copy, contact the British Trust for Ornithology.
