WINS Natural Flood Management: Demand for Natural Flood Management
This dataset was created for the Welsh Information for Nature Based Solution or WINS project (Previously known as SCCAN) to identify opportunities to carry out land management interventions to increase ecosystem service delivery in a number of key policy areas. What the map shows: The map shows catchments feeding into urban areas at elevated risk from fluvial flooding; these are demand areas for natural flood management.

How the map has been created: The map is based on the F_MAX score in the Community Risk Register. Any areas with a score above 84 (the median of scores throughout Wales) has been considered as a demand area. Next, upslope areas feeding into the demand areas were identified: all Water Framework Directive river catchments feeding into the demand areas were identified and designated as the overall demand areas for catchment scale NFM interventions. This dataset was produced for NRW under contract by Environment Systems Ltd.
