Forestry Commission Wales (FCW) Landholdings

This is a spatial dataset for internal use only, containing information on areas of land in which former Forestry Commission Wales (FCW), now part of Natural Resources Wales (NRW) have a right to manage. This provides an indicative representation of land owned by former FCW in Wales. The dataset contains only polygons which includes information on site name and unique codes. Content varies for each parcel of land but often includes personal details which are regarded as sensitive. The purpose of the data is to provide location and boundary information primarily for use by the estates department.

This dataset has been produced to assist Natural Resources Wales (NRW) employees in day to day management of land formally managed by FCW. The purpose of this data capture was to provide accurate legal maps all land owned by FCW in Wales. In addition to this the dataset was inherited from Forestry Commission Wales by NRW so no information is available on the source, quality, collection or processing methods. Digitally scanned from paper and transparencies by Forestry Commission GB in order to produce a digital dataset of Forestry Commission Wales (FCW) land ownership in ESRI Shapefile format.
