As of 2016-03-01, data is recorded and stored on the Wales Incident Recording System (WIRS). Prior to this, between 2013-04-01 to 2016-02-29 data was stored on the National Incident Recording System (NIRS). The system allows user to manage and track the progress of incidents. All pertinent details relating to an incident should be recorded as soon as possible. The data recorded over time relating to incidents can be used to provide management information, determine trends and highlight areas of concern, amongst other uses.
