As recent records of the beetle have been few, this survey was undertaken in an attempt to determine its status and distribution. A total of five beetles (four larvae and one adult) were found following 63.5 hours of hand searching on and around thyme plants (the only recorded foodplant of the beetle in the UK) and stone-turning near patches of thyme from June to September 2015, with all specimens found in Clogwyn Coch in September. No beetles were found in Cwm du'r Arddu, its traditional hotspot, despite exhaustive searches. Further surveys were also conducted in 2016 please see - National Museums Liverpool 2017.
