Marine Benthic Invertebrate Species (extracted from BIOSYS)
Information regarding the presence, and abundance, of benthic invertebrate species at specific marine monitoring points held within the Biological Systems (BIOSYS). BIOSYS is a former Environment Agency Wales' (EAW)) database. This welsh extract of the data is now stored and managed by Natural Resources Wales. BIOSYS was EAW main database for storing, manipulating and reporting data from freshwater and marine biological surveys at any taxonomic level, and Water Framework Directive marine benthic invertebrate database. Data are laboratory assessed and quality assured following the National Marine Biological Analytical Quality Control (NMBAQC) scheme. National databases are continually being updated as a result of on-going benthic invertebrate monitoring programmes. The extracted data is a subset of the full dataset and only includes data collected/owned/managed by Natural Resources Wales (NRW).

Presence and abundance of benthic invertebrate species are collected and held in Biological Systems (BIOSYS). Data within the field was collected using Day Grab (0.1 m2), 3x0.01m2 cores and Core (11.28cm diam.). Data are laboratory assessed and quality assured following the National Marine Biological Analytical Quality Control (NMBAQC) scheme. These data only contain data owned and managed by Natural Resources Wales.
