Each site was assessed to examine whether Favourable Condition had been attained. Sites covered were as follows; - Pembrokeshire: Mynydd Preseli, Gweunydd Blaencleddau (SN13), and Waun Fawr (SN03) - Glamorgan: Rhossili Down and Sluxton Farm (SS4290) and Cefn Bryn (SS5090) - Anglesey: Cors Erddreiniog (SH4683). This can vary from mid-June to early August but in most years the bulk of the adult population is on the wing from early July to early August. All male and female Southern damselflies were recorded using an eight figure grid reference generated by using hand held GPS devices. Two 'Garmin Etrex' and one 'Magellan GPS315' device were used. Both are accurate to plus or minus 10 m, but usually accuracy was much better than this (usually plus or minus 3-5 m). Southern damselfly was recorded from both suitable and unsuitable habitats. Using the same hand held devices grid references were generated for habitat deemed to conform to the criteria for favourable habitat condition as detailed within the project specification.
