Across Wales Marine Non-Native Species Survey around Welsh Marinas
The dataset is part of an Ongoing rapid assessments for presence/absence of marine Invasive Non-Native Species (INNS) in Welsh marinas. A sub-section of probable invasive marine species was determined using a mixture of Welsh high-priority species and species previously found by the Marine Aliens 2 Group. The purpose of this data capture was to look at the spread of invasive non-natives in Wales and provide early warnings for new introductions with a possible view to employing eradication techniques.

Assessments were conducted by visual inspection of the entire marina and associated structures from the surface followed by snorkel surveys where non-natives were observed or where native biota composition suggested that marina habitat was amenable to non-native colonisation. Initial surveys in 2011 were carried out by the Countryside Council for Wales, with subsequent work to be carried out by The School of Ocean Sciences, Bangor University under a MoA with CCW.
