This work was carried out by former Countryside Council for Wales (CCW) and focused on the North Llyn area. Subsequent analysis of the video taken was undertaken by Marine Ecological Solutions Ltd on behalf of CCW. Amendments to the previous methods include the addition of a HD video camera system manufactured by C-Technics in place of the SD camera previously used. A Cannon EOS 400D digital SLR was also used in a housing manufactured by Rovtech systems. Photographic stills were taken every 11 seconds along the tows to assist with species and habitat validation. Following methodological and equipment trial (Sanderson et al, 2001; Southeran et al, 2004) drop-down video survey methods were employed extensively in Welsh Special Areas of Conservation (SACs) in 2004 and 2005 (Axelsson et al, 2006). The 2004 survey work focused on Cardigan Bay SAC, while the 2005 survey work focused on Pen Llyn a'r Sarnau, Menai Strait and Conwy Bay, Cardigan Bay and Pembrokeshire Marine. Between 2007 and 2010 work focused on the Pen Llyn a'r Sarnau Modiolus reef. Additional work was carried out in Milford Haven (Crepidula and Seagrass beds) and St Bride's Bay to look at possible anchor damage. In 2011 DDV was also carried out around Puffin Island in Anglesey.
