Marine Non-Native Atlas for Wales 2010
The dataset contains a series of records for each of the non-native marine species currently identified as occurring in Wales. The records have been extracted from Countryside Council for Wales' (CCWs) Phase 1 Intertidal surveys, Marine Recorder data holdings, National Biodiversity Network (NBN) Gateway web source, MarLIN/DASSH web source, DEFRA Marine Protected Area (MPA) non-native GIS layers, Local Environmental Record Centres (LERC's ), and other ad-hoc records collated by CCW staff or supplied by third parties. The purpose of this data collation is to monitor the spread of non-native marine species in Wales by creating a current and meaningful atlas using GIS layers for individual layers.

Version 1 of the Atlas. This is a collation of records and therefore may be related to varied and specific methodologies associated with individual surveys e.g. Phase 1 Intertidal, Marine Nature Conservation Review (MNCR) Phase II and marine monitoring surveys. The data was extracted for source datasets and imported to MapInfo as British National Grid (BNG) projection. The majority of records are collected by specialists. Ad-hoc records are verified where possible.
