The river Wye is one of the largest rivers in England and Wales, and supports a range of rare and threatened habitats and species. The river includes several Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). It is also designated as a Special Area of Conservation (SAC). The purpose of this data capture was to characterise the geomorphology of the watercourses surveyed and to identify key areas for monitoring, management and restoration, particularly in relation to the desired physical habitats for the SAC species. The area covered included 305 km of the River Wye and selected tributaries between Pant Mawr and Hay-on-Wye.
