The Data is captured as part of the Across-Wales Diving Survey, designed to gather information on Reef features across the Marine SAC's in Wales. In order to ascertain whether observed changes are due to natural factors or anthropogenically created factors, a suite of environmental factors also need to be considered, such as turbidity, temperature, salinity and water chemistry. Salinity loggers have been placed at sites across Pembrokeshire Marine SAC. The data is collected continuously, although this has not been processed to produce daily averages due to the low confidence in the data. Additional salinity recordings are taken at Skomer MNR but these are covered in a separate metadata entry. Salinity is also recorded in saline lagoons within Wales. Metadata about this data is held in a separate entry. Gathering physical data such as temperature provides context and background information for the condition assessment of each of the reef features monitored.
