The purpose of this data capture was to locate and document all grey seal breeding sites during the main pupping season from September to December 1991 and to estimate pup production at these sites. To estimate the total number of cows in the West Wales population, identify 'areas' where seals are subject to disturbance by man and assess the quality of the breeding haul-out environment. The criteria used for inclusion in the list of potential pupping sites were: - The presence of a beach above the level of high-water, - Access for seals from the sea, and - Relatively low human disturbance.
