Collections were made at this time and during the following year to determine the nature of the bleaching and to follow the recovery, or otherwise, of these plants. The purpose of this data capture was to determine the nature of the bleaching in crustose coralline algae and to follow the recovery, or otherwise, of these plants. Two Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs) were chosen for regular monitoring, the north shore of West Angle Bay 510 41.8' N 50 06.5' W and Bluck's Pool and The Pole, Castlemartin at 510 38' N 50 03' W. Further observations and specimens were obtained from Blaise Bullimore on Skomer (510 44' N 50 17' W), Manorbier (510 38.5' N 40 48.35' W), Worm's Head, Gower (510 33.5' N 40 19' W), Porth Trecastell, Anglesey (53 0 12' N 40 25.9' W) and Bardsey Island (520 45' N 40 45'W).
