National Vegetation Classification (NVC) survey of alder woods at 11 sites on 10 Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs) throughout Wales. The aim of this survey was to provide a better understanding of the plant communities of Welsh alder woods, a rather neglected habitat.

Countryside Council for Wales (CCW) commissioned survey contributes to a NVC Woodland Surveys collation. Standard woodland NVC survey methodology was used. Woodland communities were identified by eye and mapped, supported by sample quadrats and target notes.
