Wales Wetland Survey 1977-1982
This project was a major survey of wetlands in Wales. It was a joint venture between NCC Wales HQ and CST to describe, classify and evaluate the lowland wetlands of Wales on a floristic basis. In all, around 270 wetland sites were surveyed across Wales. The dataset is comprised of sketch maps, quadrat records, proformas and a report (Ratcliffe & Hattey, 1982). In part, to inform Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) notification. This dataset is being mobilised in 2023

Outputs of the Wales Wetland Survey divide into three categories (i) up to 20 quadrat records per site, (ii) a proforma with standard data fields and (iii) sketch maps of the main communities. Anglesey survey maps are more detailed than others. Detailed and reliable surveys were carried out for Anglesey survey. Maps are subsequently more detailed than most in the 1977-1982 Wales Wetland Survey.
