Plantlife International: Important Arable Plant Area Data for Wales (3rd Party Data)
Plantlife International collects and holds a large quantity of data on plants and habitats of conservation importance throughout the UK from a network of individuals and organisations. The Important Arable Plant Area (IAPA) are based on the presence of particular threatened species, exceptional plant assemblages and priority habitats and this method is used to highlight arable farmland in the UK of three levels of importance: Sites of European Importance; Sites of National Importance; Sites of County Importance. The datasets include: - The Welsh Important Arable Plant Area (IAPA) Status Tetrad data contains information at the 2x2 km scale for the presence of individual UK IAPA species which has been totalled to provide the IAPA score for each tetrad. This has been assessed against the broad-soil present in each tetrad to conclude whether each tetrad is of County, National or European Importance for UK IAPA plants and the number of rare and threatened arable plants (Criteria A) has been summed. - The Wales Arable Plant Species Data, which contains information on 30 arable plants that are rare and threatened in Wales. Each species has either or both a point or polygon Shapefile containing location and date information. - The Wales Field IAPA and Richness dataset contains information of the presence of each UK IAPA species at a field level. This includes the data of the last survey for each field, the last time when each species was recorded in the field, the UK IAPA score for the field, a count of the IAPA species in each field (species richness) and the area of each field. - The Wales vice-counties IAPA map contains information of the Important Arable Plant Area (IAPA) score for each Welsh vice-county.
